Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Major General Jonas Kronaitis met on Thursday, 29 January with Danish , Swedish, Finnish, Latvian and Estonian Chiefs of defence. On Friday, 30 January, the Baltic and Nordic national armed forces commanders met at the Defence College near Helsinki to discuss joint military projects, peacekeeping operations and future plans.
Chiefs of Defence presented tasks and functions of their representative forces deployed in missions abroad. They also focused on future plans with regard military engagements abroad.
The Nordic chiefs of defence briefed on defence capabilities of their respective region, while the Baltic commanders of defence discussed issues on definition and accomplishment of tasks with regard to air police. The meeting also focused on the tasks of the Baltic Sea military co-operation forum BALTSEA.
After discussions Finnish military personnel will arrange a display of Finnish-made new brand armored personnel carriers and other modern military equipment.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces Commander and him accompanying Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff of the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence for international co-operation and integration, Lt Col Artūras Balčiūnas are expected to back in Vilnius in the evening of Friday, 30 January.
