February 2, representatives of Lithuanian-led Chaghcharan PRT-8 and Lithuanian Special Mission in Afghanistan met with teachers of provincial schools in Chaghcharan. Lithuanians gave to the school Sultan Alamudin Ghori where the meeting took place computers and printers.
Commander PRT-8 Col. Vytautas Reklaitis thanked the gathering of over 70 teachers for their regard and efforts. ”Chaghcharan PRT pays great attention in education in Ghowr. Illiteracy is as much of a problem in the province as poverty. Seeing the progress in development of education sector in Ghowr I believe that in the future the problem will be resolved by your effort. A new educated generation you will raise will be the basis of reconstruction and welfare of the country," said Commander PRT-8.
Members of Lithuanian Special Mission told about activities of PRT-8, long-term provincial development projects, and assistance projects for the education sector planned for future.
Continuing activities of antecedent missions PRT-8 develops close cooperation with educational institutions of Chaghcharan, hands over donations of school supplies, computers, tents for open-air schools and carpets to the schools. Several weeks ago PRT-8 delivered five computers, five printers, electricity generator, and helped installing computer class in Chaghcharan Teacher Training Centre. Around 15 teachers gather to computer literacy courses conducted by a PRT-8 information systems officer.
Government of Lithuania provides financing for long-term projects – constructions of schools, assistance for primary education of around 3000 thousands children of Ghowr.
