On February 1 Vice Minister of National Defence Margiris discussed bilateral defence cooperation, regional security of the South Caucasus, and Armenia’s engagement in the EU Eastern Partnership initiatives at a meeting with Ambassador of Armenia to Lithuania HE Tigran Mkrtchyan.
Vice Minister underscored the necessity to maintain the security dialogue in order to have a better understanding of the security challenges facing the South Caucasus.
When discussing the situation following the Nagorno-Karabakh war, Vice Minister underscored that it was imperative to continue the negotiations in international formats, as well as the involvement of Western partners, for a sustainable and lasting resolution.
Vice Minister of National Defence also encouraged Armenia to use the EaP Trust Fund launched to support EaP countries’ involvement in the EU Common Security and Defence Policy and manage by Lithuania.
In his turn, Ambassador of Armenia thanked Lithuania for the defence cooperation to date and the courses arranged in Lithuania for representatives of the Armenian defence sector.
