Vice Minister of National Defence Vytautas Umbrasas is attending the Asia Security Summit in Singapore on May 31 – June 2. On the margins of the Summit Vice Minister V. Umbrasas met with Permanent Secretary For Defence of Singapore Chan Yeng Kit. The officials bilaterally exchanged views on the security threats both countries were facing, expressed delight about the relations of their countries, and discussed potential areas for expanding bilateral cooperation.
It has been the first time representatives of the Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania were invited to take part in the Asia Security Summit, a format for discussing challenges facing the regions of Asia and the Pacific. Other themes of the forum are the relations of the Korean Peninsula, U.S. and China, cyber security, and conflict prevention.
The IISS Asia Security Summit – The Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) is held for the 18th time this year was attended by Secretary of Defence of the United States, Ministers of Defence of Japan, China, United Kingdom, France, and more countries, Secretaries of Defence of Sweden and Germany, and heads of a range of international organisations.
