Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas visited the Ukrainian-founded LUXUAV drone factory where he explored technical properties of the drones made and AI-powered drone technologies. R. Kaunas invited Ukrainian manufacturers to carry out drone tests in Lithuania.
“This way we can attract new ideas and bring together drone manufacturers with Lithuanian colleagues and the Lithuanian Armed Forces to exchange expertise,” Minister of National Defence underscored at the meeting.
While in Luxembourg, R. Kaunas also visited the Parliament of the country, met with President of the Parliament Claude Wiseler, members of the Commissions for Defence and Foreign Affairs and the Delegation of Luxembourg to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
Meeting the MPs of Luxembourg Minister focussed majorly on the current security situation in the Baltic states, underscored the risks posed by the drones jammed by russia to breach into the Baltic states, and advocated an additional package of sanctions on the russian economy.
Luxembourg has been deploying military personnel to the NATO Multinational Battle Group in Rukla, now an integral part of the German Brigade, since 2017 in logistical support role. Luxembourg’s troops are also sent to train in military exercise hosted by Lithuania.
Minister underscored at the meeting that Lithuania viewed Luxembourg as reliable Ally whose actions strengthened NATO’s collective defence and supported the implementation of deterrence measure in the region.
