Minister of National Defence Robertas departs for Brussels to attend the NATO Defence Ministers’ meeting on June 18. The meeting will focus heavily on strengthening collective defence, preparation for the upcoming NATO Summit in Ankara, increasing defence spending and capability development, air defence, including counter-drone measures, scaling up defence industry production, and ensuring long-term assistance for Ukraine.
Also, Ministers will discuss navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Lithuania has mandated contribution of up to 40 civilian and military personnel of the National Defence System to multinational maritime security and freedom of navigation efforts in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Ukraine Defence Contact Group and the Nuclear Planning Group will meet on the sidelines of the event.
