The exercise running on November 4–18 involves approximately 4,000 soldiers from Mechanized Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf units and allies’ battalions deployed in Lithuania training planning and completion of offensive and defensive operations.
Minister also visited the rotation U.S. battalion which is also based at the same Lithuanian Armed Forces training area. Minister familiarized with the living space and conditions and thanked the U.S. allies for contributing to a stronger security of Lithuania.
The U.S. military personnel and equipment were deployed at General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area in October and will stay in Lithuania until spring 2020. Two allied battalions are currently in Lithuania: the U.S. battalion equipped with Abrams tanks and the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group led by Germany and equipped with Leopard 2 tanks, they present a particularly weighty element of deterrence in NATO efforts to ensure security in the region.
