On October 2 Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis and Vice Minister Giedrimas Jeglinskas discussed defence cooperation between Lithuania and Israel with the new Ambassador of Israel to Lithuania Yossef Levy.
Minister R. Karoblis expressed appreciation of the ongoing cooperation and underscored its necessity. The meeting officials exchanged views on the existing long-term commitments on weaponry acquisition and infrastructure development projects with Israel’s companies. The projects together with the contacts launched in cyber security area were assessed as best practices of bilateral cooperation. Minister of National Defence said that bearing in mind the expanding contact network, consultations for experience exchange on conscription organisation, strengthening public resilience and readiness for defence could be held in the future.
Minister R. Karoblis and Ambassador Y. Levy also addressed regional security challenges that both countries are facing. Lithuania’s outlook concerning our security situation and NATO’s reinforcement and deterrence initiatives were presented to the Ambassador. Y. Levy thanked for the briefing on Lithuania’s perspective and expressed a hope that the cooperation between Lithuania and Israel in security and defence area will continue.
