On February 12–13 Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis will attend the NATO Defence Ministers meeting in Brussels (Belgium) to address NATO operations, enhancement of deterrence and defence with other participants.
The meeting will focus on the NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) and security situation in the Middle East. A separate session dedicated to the NATO operation in Afghanistan will also be attended by Defence Ministers of non-NATO countries contributing to the operation.
NATO Defence Ministers will meet with the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Ministers of Defence of Sweden and Finland, exchange views on a closer NATO-EU cooperation.
Ministers of Defence of the NATO Alliance meet three times a year.
