Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas departs for Madrid Tuesday morning to attend the NATO Summit of June 29–30 in Madrid in composition of delegation of President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and to discuss the threats presented by Russia and response to them. NATO Heads of State will also discuss and adopt the new NATO Strategic Concept.
At the Summit, Lithuania will seek decisions which would significantly improve defence of the Baltic region and the entire eastern flank of NATO.
In Madrid, Lithuania will also back the applications of Sweden and Finland for NATO membership which would significantly enhanced the security in the Baltic Sea region.
