On May 13 – 14 Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas will be conducting a formal visit to Warsaw to attend the Lithuanian-Polish Defence Council meeting. Ministers of National Defence of Lithuania and Poland A. Anušauskas and Mariusz Błaszczak, will discuss bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Poland, NATO and EU agendas, security situation in the region.
Ministers will also sign a joint communique on specific areas of closer cooperation between the two countries.
The event in Warsaw is going to be the second Lithuanian-Polish Defence Council. The first time Lithuanian and Polish Defence Ministers met in the format was last year in January in Vilnius.
The Lithuanian-Polish Defence Council is held on the basis of a joint declaration of Presidents of Lithuania and Poland on partnership in the area of security which was signed on 21 February 2019. It lays out the agreement to join forces to achieve cornerstone goals for regional security bilaterally and in the formats of NATO and the EU.
