On December 11–17 Minister of National Defence is conducting an official visit to the United States of America. Minister will visit the Pentagon and meet with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
“U.S. Secretary of Defense and I will discuss the destabilizing Russian activity in our region, assistance to Ukraine, persistent military U.S. presence in Lithuania, and prospects for deepening our longstanding defence cooperation even more,” Minister said before departing for Washington.
A. Anušauskas and Lloyd Austin will also sign a Reciprocal Defense Procurement Agreement: the contract is aimed at creating better conditions for cooperation at defence industry level and stepping up the interoperability between the Lithuanian and the U.S. Armed Forces.
Minister A. Anušauskas will also meet with Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Force Development Christine Wormuth, Adjutant General of Pennsylvania Major General Mark Schindler, and members of the Congress Adam Smith, Dianne Feinstein and Jim Inhofe.
The United States is Lithuania’s strategic partner and one of the key allies for the security in the Baltic region. It contributes actively to the implementation of the assurance measures in the Baltic states and security and stability of the region. The U.S. actively supports our regional security with manpower, equipment and funds.
