Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas left on a formal visit for France Sunday. In Paris, he will meet with Minister for the Armed Forces Florence Parly, discuss bilateral cooperation and the planned Lithuanian contribution to the French-led multinational Takuba Task Force in Mali.
Minister A. Anušauskas will also see Alice Rufo, advisor for strategic affairs to President Emmanuel Macron, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French National Assembly Jean-Louis Bourlanges, and Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces of the French Senate Christian Cambon.
France is an important ally to Lithuania in security and defence. The French Air Force has carried out eight rotations of the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states to date, the French military are actively involved in the activity of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Groups and military exercises in Lithuania and Estonia.
