On February 28 Defence Attaché of Lithuania to Finland Cdr Giedrius Premeneckas presented to Chief of Defence of Finland General Jarmo Lindberg the Lithuanian Armed Forces Medal “100 Years for the Re-established Lithuanian Armed Forces” on behalf of Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen Jonas Vytautas Žukas at the Embassy of Lithuania in Finland in Helsinki.
The Medal is bestowed on military and civilian personnel for a significant contribution to the re-establishment and strengthening of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and cherishing its traditions, and to officers of foreign countries – for their personal contribution to strengthening the Lithuanian Armed Forces, respect to their values and cooperation.
On the occasion of presenting the honourable decoration Ambassador of Lithuania in Finland HE Valdemaras Sarapinas praised the close cooperation of Lithuania and Finland in security and defence and stressed that Finland’s efforts to strengthen security and peace in the Baltic region through bilateral cooperation and multilateral formats were particularly appreciated in the current environment of geopolitical challenges in the region. Ambassador also underscored that Finland was among the closest NATO allies and it was necessary to further build on solidarity and a stronger EU-NATO partnership.
