On January 23 through 25 MoD Defence Policy Director Vaidotas Urbelis is conducting a visit to Singapore. At a meeting with Deputy Secretary of Defence for Policy Teo Eng Dih the officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral security cooperation between the Ministries of Defence of Lithuania and Singapore.
“The documents provides for development of closer relation on issues relevant to both sides, as well as sharing regional security assessments and arranging political consultations,” says V. Urbelis.
MoD Defence Policy Director attends Fullerton Forum 2022, platform where politicians, defence officials, officers and members of academia from across the globe exchange opinions about the security situation in the Indo-Pacific, discuss on defence diplomacy, emerging technology and common interest topics.
The forum is held ahead of the Shangri-La Dialogue which takes place in early summer. It is an annual meeting of Asian, Pacific, North America and European Defence Ministers hosted by Singapore in order to deepen mutual trust and security cooperation among the participants.
In the margins of Fullerton Forum 2022 V. Urbelis will also have meetings with representatives of Australia, the Republic of Korea and Japan. Such meetings expand contacts among the like-minded countries from the Indo-Pacific.
