On October 18 new Minister of Defence of Latvia Andris Sprūds will come for a formal visit to Lithuania to meet with Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas and tour the Lithuanian Armed Forces infrastructure developed at Rokantiškės.
Ministers will discuss the security situation in the region, joint capability development, NATO defence plans, assistance to Ukraine and other topical aspects of cooperation.
A. Sprūds was appointed as next Latvia’s Minister of Defence in mid-September. It is his first formal visit to Lithuania.
Lithuania shares the longest border with another NATO member state, Latvia, a significant Ally in defence. The two neighbors coordinate defence plans, cooperate in capability development, joint procurement and other military areas.
