On March 5–6 Vice Minister of National Defence Vytautas Umbrasas attended a Baltic Assembly Security and Defence Committee session in Tallinn. Vice Minister presented joint Baltic projects in the area of security and defence to MPs of the Baltic states.
“Speaking generally, cooperation in identified areas of developing joint capabilities brings advantage to the Baltic states and strengthens regional security. The continuing successful development of a joint maritime situational awareness capability is an excellent proof of it,” Vice Minister said at the meeting.
Discussions and presentations addressed the vision of naval capability development, joint acquisitions and successfully implemented joint military acquisition cases. The MPs were also briefed on the current status of the Headquarters Multinational Division North East and discussed prospects of a region-wide development of an air defence capability.
The Baltic Assembly is presided over by Estonia this year.
