On October 11 – 17 fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled once to intercept military aircraft of the Russian Federation in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea.
On October 13 NATO Air Policing in the Baltic states detachment aircraft were scrambled to intercept one SU-27 flying from the mainland of the Russian Federation to Kaliningrad with its onboard transponder off, without a pre-filed flight plan, but maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
