On July 4 – 10 fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled 6 times to patrol the Baltic airspace border with the Russian Federation and Belarus and to intercept military aircraft of the Russian Federation in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea that were flying in violation of international aviation flight rules.
On July 4 the NATO Air Policing Mission fighter detachment jets safeguarding the Baltic airspace were conducting patrols by the airspace border with the Russian Federation and Belarus.
On July 5 NATO fighter aircraft conducting the Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled to intercept one TU-214PU flying from the mainland of the Russian Federation into international airspace and then to Kaliningrad. Its onboard transponder was on, the crew had a pre-filed flight plan and was maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On July 5 NATO Air Policing fighter aircraft were scrambled to intercept five SU-27s flying from Kaliningrad to the mainland of the Russian Federation through international airspace. Their onboard transponders were off, the crews had no pre-filed flight plans and were not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On July 6 NATO Air Policing fighter aircraft were scrambled to intercept five one SU-30 flying from and back to Kaliningrad through international airspace with its onboard transponder off, no pre-filed flight plan and not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
