Their onboard transponder was off, the crew had no pre-filed flight plan and was not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On July 19 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted one IL-76 AN-22s flying from Kaliningrad to the mainland of the Russian Federation via international airspace. Its onboard transponder was off, the crew had no pre-filed flight plan but was maintaining radio communication.
