Vice Minister of National Defence Edvinas Kerza ends his work in the position in charge of cybersecurity, defence planning and national defence budget at the Ministry of National Defence after this week. He will join a business enterprise next week.
“I am happy I had invited Edvinas to my team. He was the driving force behind critical changes in Lithuania’s cybersecurity – initiating and successfully overseeing consolidation of the state information technology resources, reforming the security connection network to ensure uninterrupted communication among key state institutions. The multinational cyber rapid response teams, probably the most important action for strengthening cybersecurity EU-wide in recent years, that are already on standby are also a result of his initiative,” Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis says. “Together we have managed to elevate enhancement of cybersecurity to a strategic level and to achieve meaningful results in the area: Lithuania rose to the 4th position from the 57th on the Global Cybersecurity Index. It is a loss to let go of a proactive and resourceful team-member, yet I can understand Edvinas’ wish to meet new challenges outside of politics and I wish him the best of luck.”
Edvinas Kerza was appointed as Vice Minister of National Defence in February 2017. There are no plans to appoint his successor in the position.
