Late in the evening of February 18 plane of Secretary of Defense of the United States Lloyd Austin landed in Lithuania. On February 19 he will meet with the national leadership and visit the Ministry of National Defence.
U.S. Secretary of Defense conducts the official visit to reassure of the United States’ commitment to continue working intensely with Lithuania on strengthening the Baltic states’ security and engaging in concerted action in facing security threats and defending shared interests and values.
During the visit to the Ministry of National Defence, U.S. Secretary of Defense will meet bilaterally with Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis as acting Minister of National Defence, as well as with the leadership of the Ministry of National Defence and the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is also scheduled to have a four-party meeting with the Baltic Ministers of Defence.
