Today, June 16, two U.S. Air Force F-35 aircraft and a KC-135 Stratotanker air refueling aircraft will conduct a low approach over Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. The flyover over the Baltic capitals showcases the strength of U.S. commitment to NATO Allies.
“We are celebrating the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania this summer. We enjoy a close cooperation with our Baltic Allies today and we look forward an even stronger future ties,” says Gen Jeff Harrigian, Commander U.S. Air Force in Europe – Air Forces Africa.
The two U.S. Air Force F-35 Lightning II and the one KC-135 Stratotanker strategic transportation and air refueling aircraft which will fly over Vilnius are operating out of Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.
The flyover time is expected to fall in between 4.15 p.m. and 5.45 p.m. in Vilnius. Viewers are invited to choose the best visibility locations, the Hill of Three Crosses or the Cathedral Square.
The flyover may be modified by unexpected weather conditions or other emergency assignments.
