Lithuania continues strengthening the Armed Forces with a particular focus on air and missile defence, and ammunition stockpiling. Recently, a new shipment of the Spike LR2 missiles worth of EUR 5.5 million was delivered.
Spike LR2 is a rapid response high fire-power anti-armor missile effective on tanks, armored equipment, buildings and other high-value targets. Equipped with next generation warhead, its multi-channel electro-optical targeting system is suitable for both daylight and infrared environment. The missiles can effectively neutralize active and passive, including explosive reactive armor (ERA), while two-mode functionality allow to flexibly adjust the flight trajectory or abort the mission.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces used the missiles with the Vilkas Infantry Fighting Vehicles giving them formidable fire power and added effective range.
Also, ammunition for the attached grenade launcher used with automatic rifles. The ammunition is worth EUR 2 million.
