In an efforts to provide all necessary equipment for a proper airport capacity of the Lithuanian Air Force Base at Šiauliai, the Ministry of National Defence transferred to the Air Base a 65 cubic metre capacity fuel truck for ensuring furl supply to aircraft deployed at the Air Base, as well as transporting and storing aviation fuel.
The new asset will ensure fuel supply for several fighter aircraft or one large cargo aircraft at the Air Base. This is the first asset of its kind at the Lithuanian Air Force and it will cut aircraft preparation for tasks time and improve readiness of the NATO Air Policing assets.
The almost EUR 600 thousand worth fuel truck has been bought by the Defence Materiel Agency under thMoD under a contract with KMT UAB.
