The air surveillance capabilities of the Lithuanian Armed Forces have received a boost of state-of-the-art mobile medium-range AN/TPS-77 MRR radars manufactured by the U.S. Lockheed Martin. Mobile radars enable timely aerial target detection and add flexibility in airspace surveillance.
“We are working through the comprehensive continuation of the consistent air defence enhancement. These radars have been introduced in Lithuania and integrated in the Lithuanian Armed Forces. We are signing the additional contracts before the end of this year, thus further strengthening air threat identification and neutralization capabilities,” says Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas.
The AN/TPS-77 MRR will exchange real-time data with the NATO Integrated Air and Missile Defence System and contribute to the formation of an Alliance-wide recognised aerial picture, while taking the interoperability between the Allies and Lithuania one more step further.
