Wednesday, during the visit of the Minister of National Defence to Ukraine, Lithuania’s Pekkla UAB and Ukraine’s December One RND Ltd signed a Letter of Intent on cooperation in production and supply of electronic warfare systems and UAV components.
The signature follows on after the Drone Deal signed in May, as the Lithuanian Government politically supports industrial cooperation with Ukraine.
Lithuania cooperates with Ukraine to identify Ukraine’s key needs and develop practical solutions, upgrade technologies, step up production capabilities together, and transfer to Ukraine the needed capabilities as soon as possible.
“The aim of this meeting is to establish a joint company in Lithuania looking to start production in 2027. We seek to purchase the major part of electronic warfare instruments from Lithuanian manufacturers, as well as from the Ukrainian defence industry localized in Lithuania,” commented Minister of national Defence.
Minister R. Kaunas discussed cooperation on the matter with Minister of Defence of Ukraine Jevhenij Chmara.
“Production in Lithuania shortens the logistical chains, strengthens our national economy and ensures that cutting-edge technological solutions, including assistance to Ukraine, will reach the Lithuanian Armed Forces sooner. Our industry will become more resilient and independent which improves deterrence and boosts overall national security,” says Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas.
Pekkla UAB designs and manufactures UAV and unmanned terrestrial vehicles. The company is established in Lithuania commercially and has the required infrastructure. Ukraine’s December One RND yields expertise and experience in Research and Development (R&D).
December One RND brings R&D insights, technical expertise, production capabilities and product concepts it plans to test on the Lithuanian market. Pekkla UAB makes available its infrastructure and business contacts in Lithuania, advises on regulation and shares its commercial platform.
