Lithuania is strengthening its defensive capability with a new purchase; the Defence Materiel Agency has signed a contract with Sweden’s manufacturer Saab Dynamics on acquisition of antitank equipment.
Lithuania has placed an order for EUR 60 million different types of worth of ammunition for the 84 mm Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle to be delivered on in 2026–2030. With the same contract disposable AT4 grenade launchers worth of EUR 96 million are bought
“Stockpiling ammunition is a vital element of strengthening Lithuania’s defence capabilities. Securing a continuous provision of modern and reliable ammunition for the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Therefore, ammunition of the 84 mm Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle and disposable grenade launchers are consistently acquired and stockpiled,” says Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas.
The purchase will significantly strengthen the Lithuanian Armed Force’s’ ability to destroy armored enemy targets, fortified sites and manpower in open areas. Superior effectiveness of Carl Gustaf has been proven on the battlefield.
