On October 18 Japan’s first Defence Attaché to Lithuania Captain (Navy) Eitaro Nakaoka as accredited at a ceremony Margiris Abukevičius underscored the day was a historic one and a milestone on the way towards a closer cooperation between Lithuania and Japan.
“We have had the intention to build up defence cooperation between our countries for a while. Lithuania and Japan are remote geographically but our security environment has affinities that brings us closer. We have the aggressive Russia nearby. Just like the Japanese, we see the challenges posed by China. It matters that we have a close partner in Japan,” said M. Abukevičius wishing every success to Capt (Navy) Eitaro Nakaoka in his duties.
Before becoming the first Defence Attaché of Japan to Lithuania, Captain (Navy) Eitaro Nakaoka served across different positions in the Japan Self-Defence Forces. He is a graduate of the University of Tokyo, speaks Japanese, Chinese, English and Russian.
