On March 28 – April 3 fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled 12 times to patrol the Baltic airspace border with the Russian Federation and Belarus and to intercept military aircraft of the Russian Federation in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea that were flying in violation of international aviation flight rules.
On March 29 NATO fighter aircraft were conducting patrols by the Baltic airspace border with the Russian Federation and Belarus.
On March 29 NATO air policing capabilities intercepted one TU-134 flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad with its onboard transponder on and maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre but without the pre-filed flight plan.

On March 31 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted one SU-27 flying from Kaliningrad into international airspace over the Baltic Sea and then back to Kaliningrad. Its onboard transponder was off, the crew had no flight plan and did not maintain radio communication.
