On December 6 – 12 fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled twice to intercept military aircraft of the Russian Federation in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea.
On December 7 the fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states intercepted one IL-20 flying from mainland Russia towards the Kingdom of Denmark with its onboard transponder off, without a pre-filed flight plan, maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre in Estonia.
