Lithuania is buying ammunition of Carl-Gustaf antitank rifle for the Armed Forces. As part of the ongoing enhancement of Lithuania’s defensive capabilities and investment in the stocks of necessary resources for the Lithuanian Armed Forces, the Defence Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defence joined a long-term contract with Sweden’s Saab Dynamics AB sponsored by the Defence Materiel Administration of the Kingdom of Sweden in early December.
Becoming a party to the long-term contract enables Lithuania to acquire Carl-Gustaf ammunition of different roles on best conditions and for best prices. Over the 7 years the contract will be valid, Lithuania foresees acquiring Carl-Gustaf ammunition for the worth of up to Euro 60 million. This year alone procurements are planned for 14 million euros.
Ammunition of Carl-Gustaf antitank rifle can be used in support to unit maneuvers , as well as for destroying armored vehicles.
Other parties to the joint contract with Sweden are Estonia and Latvia.
