In the wake of the airspace violations in Latvia and Estonia today the Ministry of National Defence informs no incidents have been recorded in the airspace over Lithuania.
“All the responsible institutions were and still are closely monitoring the situation and maintain readiness to respond. No incidents have been detected in our airspace. The NATO fighter jets activated in the Baltic airspace have returned to their base, while the Fire and Rescue Department has been notified on potentially needed citizen alert notifications,” said Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas.
The Ministry of National Defence notes that citizens are able to look up advice on behaviour upon spotting a drone, receiving an air alert notification or coming across a suspicious object online at LT72.lt.
At midday, today, potential air threat alerts in the Latvian airspace were sent. The Latvian Air Force notified about a perceived threat over the eastern part of the country: in Preiļi, Rēzekne, Ludza and Krāslava municipalities.
Estonia notified of a drone shot down successfully in its airspace around noon by NATO’s F-16.
