On April 2–3 Vice Minister of National Defence Karolis Aleksa attends an informal EU Defence Ministerial in Poland. The meeting addresses the possible security guarantees for Ukraine, plans of member states to further increase military aid to Ukraine and accelerated implementation of training and arming initiatives for the Ukrainian military. The meeting is attended by Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Over a working dinner, EU Defence Ministers will discuss the proposals on filling in critical defence capability and stockpile gaps, increasing capacity of the EU defence industry and marshaling additional resources for defence as laid out in the European Commission’s White Paper for European Defence – Readiness 2030 and ReArm Europe Plan.
