A military vehicle maintenance depot development project will begin this year to further improve service conditions that the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Lithuania has at Rukla. The project will be implemented via mediation of the NATO Procurement and Support Agency (NPSA), Lithuanian companies are also invited to participate.
The project is planned to cover constructions of a repair facility, administrative buildings, maintenance facility building, warehouses, carwash, shelters, parking lots, engineering infrastructure, etc.
Once the project has been completed, the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion’s equipment will be kept, used and maintained in better conditions.
The project will be completed on German funds.
The contract is planned to be signed in the second quarter of 2022 and the constructions are planned to be finished by the end of 2024. Companies are invited to place bids on the NSPA procurement module until March 20.
The NATO Support and Procurement Agency has carried out national defence projects on Lithuania’s behalf before as well. It also takes part in other projects of Lithuanian Armed Forces modernization, infrastructure development for Lithuanian and allied forces and acquisitions of military equipment and weaponry too.
The NATO Support and Procurement Agency is the main platform for public procurements of different products and services for defence authorities of NATO allies.
The NATO eFP Battle Group deployed in Lithuania since 2017 is a significant and long-term contribution of the allies to a stronger regional security. The NATO eFP Battle Group framework nation Germany deploys to Rukla the bulk of military personnel and equipment.
