On February 12 Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas discussed bilateral and regional cooperation, exchanged views on the regional security situation, and discussed topical aspects of the NATO and EU agenda at a meeting with Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Lithuania.
Minister thanked for the Czech contribution to the efforts to enhance security in the region. According to Minister, there were not many countries that contributed so significantly to Lithuania’s security. The Czech deployment to the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle is very important to Lithuania – the Czech Republic has become de facto a part of the NATO battalion in Lithuania. “Active participation of Czech troops in the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion, NATO Air Policing Mission, NATO Force Integration Unit, and military exercises in Lithuania sends a clear message of a united and ready NATO capable of protecting the alliance and its eastern borders. From the historical perspective, Lithuania has always enjoyed an exceptionally close defence cooperation with the Czech Republic,” Minister A. Anušauskas says.
