On January 5 the team of Minister of National Defence A. Anušauskas was joined by a new member, Kristina Deviatnikovaitė, who will hold the position of the Chancellor of the Ministry of National Defence.
“The superb expertise in law and immense international experience Kristina has since representing Lithuania’s national interests at the Council of the European Union and other EU institutions will be doubtlessly an asset in maximising the efficiency of management and administration of the Ministry of National Defence and the entire National Defence System,” Minister of National Defence told about his selection.
Before the current responsibilities of management and administration of the MoD activities, K. Deviatnikovaitė was the Senior Legal Advisor for International Law at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania. She has substantial experience in developing national legislation, European Union and international affairs, international cooperation, international negotiations, implementation of international legislation into national law; completed an internship at the European Union Court of Justice. She chaired the Working Party on Substantive Criminal Law during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU. She also represented Lithuania’s interests and position at EU institutions and bodies in the area of law for several years as Justice Counsellor-Senior Advisor at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Lithuania to the EU in Brussels, Belgium. She also advised the State Police and Prosecutor Offices of Albania on the implementation of the EU legislation specificities, practical application. K. Deviatnikovaitė holds a Master’s degree in Law received at Vilnius University.
