Delegation of the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania headed by Academy Command Col Juozas Kačergius visited the United States Military Academy West Point to familiarize with its training system.
West Point colleagues briefed in depth the Lithuanian delegation with the system of cadet selection and training, studying and living conditions, programs for leadership, character, and psychological resilience development.
According to the representatives of the Military Academy of Lithuania, West Point staff are particularly proud of their cadet training system, especially the character-building program which includes such subjects as discipline and self-control, because that is becoming a more serious challenge with the modern-day youth.
The Military Academy of Lithuania delegation found that the United States Military Academy West Point paid great attention to educating cadets in citizenship and responsibility, as well as fostering military values.
The General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania has been cooperating with U.S. higher military education institutions for years. Our cadets and officers participate in international weeks and study at armed force schools in the U.S. U.S. cadets also visits international week events and meetings at the Military Academy of Lithuania to meet Lithuanian and other countries’ counterparts in international environment, share and gain experience.
The Military Academy of Lithuania organizes meetings with foreign representatives, including of the U.S., in order to strengthen international cooperation, familiarize with officer training programs in other countries, share best practices, discuss themes concerning officers and cadets.
