On April 4-5 Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis discussed the general security and defence situation at a meeting of the Central European Defence Ministers of the Bucharest Nine (B9) in Warsaw (Poland). The Ministers addressed regional threats, exchanged information on their countries’ contributions to NATO and European Union projects.
Minister R. Karoblis underscored the importance of preventing duplication of NATO and European Union roles and the opportunity for third countries, whose values align with EU criteria, to take part in joint projects. The meeting was also attended by high officials of the United States of America.
The B9 initiative is a political cooperation platform of nine Central and Eastern European countries (Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary) that is strengthening Euro-Atlantic security.
