On March 28 warships of the German Navy FGS Oker and FGS Oste piered in at Klaipėda Seaport for the first time on the occasion of Lithuania’s 15th NATO anniversary. The ships will stay until April 1, the crews will take part in the celebration on March 31 in Palanga, Jūratė ir Kastytis Square, and meet with the Lithuanian Navy leadership.
During the celebration the flags of Lithuania, the European Union and NATO will be hoisted by the Palanga Sea Pier decorated with Lithuanian and NATO flags, the Lithuanian Navy Band and the Orchestra of Palanga will perform, the Lithuanian Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Diving Unit and other Lithuanian Armed Forces units will present static displays.
The NATO Force Integration Unit (NFIU) in Lithuania will present its activities, our allies deployed in Lithuania will show their weaponry and equipment.
The audience will be greeted by an air programme from the Lithuanian Air Force Dauphin helicopter crew which will fly in from its deployment location in the 1st Search and Rescue Post in Nemirseta.
The event is planned to be attended by Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis, representatives of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and NATO allies.
