They also intercepted one TU-154 following the same route. Its onboard transponder as switched on, the crew had the pre-filed flight plan and were maintaining radio communication.
On July 10 NATO fighter jets were dispatched to intercept two SU-27 flying through international airspace from and to Kaliningrad with their onboard transponders switched off, without the flight plans, not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control.
