Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas departs for Norway today. He will meet with Minister of Defence Tore Onshuus Sandvik to discuss regional security, air defence, agenda of the upcoming NATO Summit, transatlantic ties, strengthening defensive capabilities, assistance to Ukraine, and more topics.
Lithuania and Norway are close partners in defence area, formats of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), Multinational Battle Group (MN BG), Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8). Norway also contributes to strengthening Lithuania’s air defence. The country has sent rotations to the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states three times and handed over the RBS-70 short-range air defence systems currently used by the Air Defence Battalion.
