On June 28 a decorations ceremony took place in Pabradė to honour officers of the German 10th Panzer Division. Ministry of National Defence and Lithuanian Armed Forces command decorations were presented to the German officers for cooperation and contribution to the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group Lithuania.
The ceremony was held in the margins of Exercise Schneller Degen 2021, the first time the 10th Panzer Division is training on a foreign soil, specifically, to redeploy headquarters and command elements to the forward NATO region.
Vice Minister Margiris Abukevičius congratulated the German offices and stressed that such exercise was particularly important because of its aim to strengthen the interoperability and interaction of Lithuanian and allied forces.
According to Vice Minister the German engagement in the efforts to strengthen NATO and Lithuania’s defence was vital: Germany demonstrated its commitment not only as the leadership in the NATO eFP Battle Group but also by investing in Lithuania’s military infrastructure.
