Spartan, the Lithuanian Air Force aircraft, will be deployed to the area of disaster in response to the urgent needs of earthquake-struck Türkiye.
Deployment of a search and rescue team and humanitarian assistance delivery to Türkiye has been agreed to at the Government’s Wednesday session. SAREX team and humanitarian aid will reach Türkiye by Spartan, aircraft of the Lithuanian Air Force. The Ministry of National Defence also contributes 1200 rations from state material resource reserves for the team.
“”The rescue operation and damage elimination efforts in Türkiye require extensive international effort, therefore Lithuanian institutions stand united and contribute. We are arranging a dispatch of rescue team and delivery of aid to those in charge in Türkiye,” says Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas.
The search and rescue team ready to leave at the moment is the first team Lithuania has ever deployed. The aid rendered is worth of up to EUR 528.
The inter-institutional coordination for assistance pooling was provided by the National Crisis Management Centre.
