Minister of National Defence Dovilė Šakalienė will make her first official visit to Germany next Monday to sign a confirmation of the Leopard tank acquisition. It is a new important step of modernisation of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and strengthening Lithuania’s national capabilities, as well as enhancing integration and interoperability with the Armed Forces of Germany. D. Šakalienė will meet with Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius and representatives of Germany’s security and military institutions and defence industry.
“I am about to visit Germany and see my counterpart B. Pistorius with whom we have many themes to discuss, like the brigade, acquisitions and assistance to Ukraine. We value Germany’s leadership in ensuring security and defence of our region. Germany is Lithuania’s strategic Ally, cooperation commitments and priorities remain the same,” said Minister of National Defence D. Šakalienė.
