Today Vice Minister of National Defence Monika Koroliovienė was awarded Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service. This is the first case of such a high recognition throughout the history of the Lithuanian-U.S. defence cooperation.
The Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service is particularly rarely bestowed on foreigners, it needs to be approved by the Chief of Pentagon. Vice Minister was awarded such an exceptional recognition for her contribution and initiative as Defence Advisor at the Embassy of Lithuania in the United States.
M. Koroliovienė has made particularly meaningful contributions to strengthening the strategic Lithuanian-U.S. partnership over the recent years. The Americans are one of the key Allies for the Baltic region security: the country is particularly actively involved in the Assurance Measures in the Baltic states strengthening security and stability of the region. The U.S. actively contributes troops, finance and equipment in support of our defence.
