On March 7 the current Federal Minister of Defence of Germany B. Pistorius will be officially visiting Lithuania. Tuesday he will meet with Minister of Defence of Lithuania Arvydas Anušauskas and other representatives of the Ministry of National Defence and the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
The Ministers will bilaterally discuss the progress on the implementation of decisions taken at the NATO Summit in Madrid and stepping up Germany’s military presence in Lithuania to strengthen the defence on the eastern flank of NATO. The Ministers will also discuss preparations for the NATO Summit in Vilnius due to take place in July.
Appointed as Federal Minister of Defence of Germany in January, B. Pistorius is conducting his first visit to Lithuania to meet with his troops deployed with the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group Lithuania and the enhanced Vigilance Brigade. He will observe the joint Lithuanian-German Exercise Griffin Lighting at Pabradė.
