Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas takes part in the commemoration of the 4th anniversary of the wide-scale russian war of aggression against Ukraine in Kyiv. Together with other foreign representatives, he attended the Holy Mass celebrated in the honor of Ukraine’s defenders at the Saint Sofia Cathedral and lit candles at the Wall of Remembrance of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine in the Independence Square in Kyiv. Minister also visited the heating and electricity power plant harassed by persistent russian attacks.
“We must not succumb to the aggression of Putin’s russia. The Ukrainians have been blocking it off with their blood since 2014. Today, from Kyiv, I wish to Lithuania unity. Like Ukraine, Lithuania does not want war either, but russia launched it unprovoked. In our turn, we are doing everything to support Ukraine in the path towards victory. Putin only understands the language of force, so we have to invest in Lithuania’s defensive capabilities, precisely what we are doing. Let us work together and do not let divide us from within,” said Minister of National Defence R. Kaunas.
In the commemoration of the 4th anniversary of the wide-scale war of aggression against Ukraine, Minister underscored that russia’s aggression was a blatant violation of the international law and the United Nations Charter. Lithuania stands in strong solidarity with Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty and territorial integrity within its international recognized borders and respects the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the sacrifices for the sake of our mutual future.
