The Ministry of National Defence and the Lithuanian Armed Forces are getting ready a new shipment of aid to Ukraine. Twenty M113 armored vehicles, ten military trucks and ten SUVs for demining tasks will be handed over to further sustain Ukraine’s resistance against the Russian aggression.
“We are contributing the same type of armored vehicles 200 items of which have been already supplied to Ukraine by the United States. We are also donating the require trucks and SUV vehicles. A coordinated assistance from us and the Allies is the decisive factor for Ukraine’s victory, and once the victory is achieved – in defence of sovereignty. Lithuania made its first weaponry donation even before the war began and we continue thinking about further additional effective and critical support to the Ukrainians,” Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas says.
According to Minister, the value of the upcoming shipment for Ukraine amounts to approx. EUR 15.5 million.
Lithuania support Ukraine’s statehood and sovereignty and will continue providing assistance to Ukraine in every way possible, including military, financial, humanitarian and any other aid necessary.
To date, Lithuania has provided to Ukraine Stinger air defence systems, antitank weapons, body armor and helmets, 120mm mortars, small arms, ammunition, thermovisors, drones, anti-drone equipment, surveillance radars. The worth of such assistance amounts to approx. EUR 100 million.
Training for Ukrainian military to use Western equipment has already begun in Lithuania as well. The first round of courses wrapped in late April providing Ukraine with twenty new antitank system instructors.
