On October 12, Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas departs for Poland to attend the Warsaw Security Forum and the high-level discussion “How Can Europe Build the Military Power It Needs?”
At the Warsaw Security Forum, the Minister will discuss strengthening European defence capabilities, developing the defence industry, and the necessity to translate growing investment into real military power sooner. He will speak alongside NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska, and high-level representatives of the Polish Ministry of National Defence and the international defence industry. The discussion will be moderated by the former Commanding General of the United States Army Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges.
The Warsaw Security Forum is one of the leading international security and defence policy events in Europe, pulling together top-level policymakers, NATO and EU officials, Chiefs of Defence, representatives of the defence industry, and the expert community. The strategic-level discussions focus on the most relevant European and transatlantic security challenges, strategic defence priorities, and strengthening Allied cooperation. Vice Minister of National Defence Gabriel Gorbačevski will also attend on Lithuania’s behalf.
At the conference, Minister R. Kaunas will also meet with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The Ministers are expected to focus on the regional security situation, bilateral defence cooperation (especially in the areas of strengthening air defence and counter-drone capabilities), and the agenda of Lithuania’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Minister R. Kaunas also plans to meet with representatives of the defence industry.
